Catching fish won’t be an issue. Most finesse the techniques are easy to have 30+ fish days. Graph before dropping lines, bait is everywhere.

Report: Launch updates: we tried Redbud but it was socked in with days of hardened slime..and OMG the smell. I would not recommend launching there. Very shallow unless you have a thin draft. Spoke with Launch coordinator and felt it would close soon. Most all other launches outside 5th street are closed. Clearlake Oakes has a deep hole off left side of ramp. 2-axel will get you in quick trouble. We did launch from shore at Clearlake Oakes 4x4 required due to gravel there.

Fishin: We had the full moon. Fished Thurs-Sun morning. Net net.. we had a tough go. Caught ~3-5 fish per day. Fish 16 hours to 2 am Friday. Early morning bite and late evening bite. But very few. Like was noted after 9am..go do something else. What we did catch were stuffed with silvers. Found massive bait schools at Frazier and Henderson.
We junked fished alot of the lake and threw the boat at them. Seemed completely keyed in on small..I mean small bait fish. We power fished inside grass along 20 and got a few. Henderson, Frazier, Shag, Soda, Rattle,Anderson, windflower Baylis Jago produced little to zero. We did not go skinny in upper lake and maybe that’s where they were.

We have a home here and like has been commented the tournaments and pressure seem irresponsible. This fishery has changed so much in the past 5 years and not in a positive way. We need water or we are in trouble.

Tips: Fish early and Late. Late is 11-2am. Fish small. We seem to be more successful on BFS kit.

Report: I picked up 2 of my regular clients Ivan and Al at orwood.at 6am. We tried top water with no catches entire day. Top water has died down for me however I here they are catching them on frogs in the tournament.
My area had recently been sprayed and the mats are no longer green. We got off to a quick start once we picked up the jerk baits. Probably 25 fish caught in the 6 hours while fishing jerk baits. Pointer 100 and vision 110 in shad colors. We also caught a few on a senko, drop shot, and a chatter bait. 35+ fish caught in all and our best 5 went 15 pounds. If your looking to get out and catch fish Direct message me for booking availability. Eric

Tips: Tie on a jerk bait they are fish catchers.

Report: Met my clients Al and Jamon at Orwood Resort at 530am. Once again headed North. 15 minutes into the morning Jamon hooked up with a solid keeper on a Chapo. Moving further North and striking out on top water we continued North. Cloudy cooler weather conditions I thought we should be throwing top water. With next to no results, I told the guys to start ripping em with rip baits(pointer 100 and vision 110). We proceeded to catch 15 to 18 fish up to 3lbs. We made a move and started fishing plastics at docks and pilings. Quickly Al hooked up with a solid 3lb and goes on to catch 2 more solid fish on the Wacky Senko. Same bait, Jamon catches big fish of the day.....nearly 4lbs! We caught several more keepers with plastics. We ended the day with best 5 fish weighting 14+ lbs.
I felt like we had a solid day. Lots of action and great company. The feedback from the guys made my day. Everyone was happy! If your looking to hire a guide and get the best possible rate on the delta....look no further than me Direct
Message me for booking and and availability.

Tips: If top water strikes out, go out and rip em'.

Headed out to Eastman on Friday knowing it was low, but never expected it to be THAT low !! The day use ramp was closed and the camping use side was still open but not "Advised" !! So, we headed over to Hensley. The West side ramp was open but didn't look good. There was a guy that was just getting off the water after 30 min and said it was "UGLY" out there. Both lakes are mere "Puddles" with many hazards and terrible stinking Algae bloom !! I've fished these lakes since 1988 and had seen them Low, but NEVER this low. We ended up launching at Millierton, plenty of water there, using the #2 ramp, but #3 is starting to show so it won't be long until it'll be open. Fished for 5 hrs, ONE measly 1#'r by my Grandson !! The "Dead Sea" still living up to it's name !!!

Report: My client David Lee joined me in discovery bay this morning. We left the house at 540am. David has fished with the Delta elite guides likes of Bobby, Cooch, Randy, Christian and others. I was feeling the pressure to deliver a good outing. Our second stop David with a vixen tied on hooks up and I ask if he needs the net. Reassuring me it's a small one I see it flash beside the boat it's anything but small. To late to get the net he swings in a solid 5 pounder to start the day.
We continue on picking up a keeper on a spinner bait. Next area my main area we try top water but no takers. I tie on a pointer 100 and pick up several two pound class fish. David gets another on a spinner bait and later punches one. We went on and caught several other keepers on a drop shot and a senko. The bite has slowed down from last week. However there are still quality fish to be had. Out best 5 went 14+ and met a really great guy. I have the best rates any where on the the Delta direct message for booking availability.

Tips: Don't get stuck on any one bait. Mix it up find something that they are hitting. And if all else fails bust out the drop shot.

      Water Temp: 77-83

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Picked up my client John at 530 am at orwood. We headed north and I promised John a top water fish and a 3 pound minimum before we headed out. Second cast John hooked up on the chopo. We continued further north and both catching 2 pound chopo fish. I realized the top water had slowed down from last trip. It's now 830 and only 3 fish caught. I tie on a spinner bait white chartuse and as I am about to leave the area hook up with 4 pound 8 ounce fish. The fish was on a edge of some floating penny wart. I tell John I know there here. We go back threw the same area just fished on top and slow down. Realizing the fish are using the floating mats to shade themselves I fire in a drop shot and proceed to hook several 2 to 3 pound class fish. John continues to ds and I start punching but no takers.
We continue north and told John I lost a good one in this area few days back. About my 3rd or 4th cast with the ds I pull in a 5 pounder. Now I tell John it's your turn. We make another move now the low slack tide has changed and we have a strong incoming tide. Usually this is a great time to get bit. Moving back towards orwood I stop in a corner with floating mats and John tells me to get the net. After a long fight he pulls in his new Delta pb. 4pounds 6 ounces. I now tell him I have 1 last spot before calling it a day. With my promise delivered he goes on and catches to more 3 pound fish to end the day. 20 pounds and some change for our best 5.
Right now is a great time to be on the water. The bigger fish are now willing to bite and they are thick. Never have I seen so many fat fish with the exception of the spawn. Direct message me for booking availability.

Tips: Shade is key right now especially mid day.

      Water Temp: 80-84

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Bite has really picked up past 2 weeks. My clients and I have been getting most our action with reaction baits. Top water baits have been best for Numbers and quality especially before 8am. Jerk baits have been the go to bait when that morning top water bites cools down. We had a 50+ fish day Thursday with best 5 going 17pounds. Plastics always get fish. Right now you can throw just about anything and get bit. It's a great time to be out on the water especially weeks days. I have the cheapest rates around direct message me for prices. Eric.

Tips: Fish early morning late evening for best results. Bring plenty of water it will be 100 for the next coming week.

Report: Gates opened a little early Sunday and got on the water by 6am. Main lake had 4-6ft visibility. Up the river was very stained and pretty much gone past the wake/ski boat area. Water is really low. Air temp was hot at 103 when we got off the water around 1pm. 8 keeper size fish caught today with the best fish coming from topwater Berkley J Walker and Choppo. Other bites on Jigs, Dropshot and Shakey head worms in 5-15ft of water. Got our last bite around 1130am. Small stiper boils for the most part that didnt last long. Saw the best boils on the west banks main lake across from boat launch around noon.

    • Water Temp: 79

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: I had a good day figuring out the fish on Thursday. In the gate at 5:30,2nd boat out I went straight across from the marina and started fishing my buzzbait down the bank. I caught a nice fish ( 3 ) and then fished half a mile for nothing. I picked up and moved to the next main lake point and caught a 4.
I kept trying different baits looking for something to work with that wasn't a worm. I finally caught an ugly 4 pounder on a crank about 10. I picked up my dropshot and threw out onto a suspected ledge on a small cut. It swam off like a senko bite before it reached bottom. The blackwidow rod told what was up and I reeled in a 3. I fished frogs and punched for one missed fish. It's the same missed fish 3 times now. See him next week....I was totally ready and still wiffed. I caught a 3 on a crank basically offshore.
I turned my attention to the dropshot around 12:30 and started immediately catching fish on small wacky worms in 25 – 30 off shore. I'd catch a fish and then move 50 feet...catch a fish move 100 feet catch a fish...It went on for 7 fish total and finally stopped for ten minutes so I moved back to the starting spot and caught another. I moved to a shear wall with drastic drop offs and was able to spot lock and drop the bait straight down in 25-35 feet and hold on and lightly shake it. There is so much bait ( 10 foot layer on the bottom ) that what happens is your bait drops through the shad which scatter and stay away from it. Now your bait is alone....Alone usually spells death for a shad. I even caught a 3 pound rainbow ( released ) So that was the good part off my day..............
I pulled the boat out of the lake at 3:00 with the new truck in 4x4 high and the minute I got off the metal strips and to the rocks the truck started losing traction like I'm hauling 20 tons up the hill???? I know I'm not dragging my lower unit WTF? I get the boat out of both launch ramps way throwing rocks etc.into my boat and get out. The edge of the metal plates at the launch ramp on the far out side has a great big spike holding it in place... except it had lost it's purchase so when you went straight along that seam the outside edge is 4 inches higher so it punched a hole in the sidewall when I backed it in and I never heard a thing. Longer story short I will be spending $340 for a new set of matched tires and spent $70 to have a tow truck driver swap the spare for me as the new truck doesn't have anything but a scissor jack and the crank but no wrench....How happy I was to get home at 6:00. Tuesday new tires and then I fill out a claim form and see if I get one tire out of the Casitas water board.
Still it was a good day..............

Tips: I fish reaction until I am flogging a dead horse. That worm bite might even be better at first light but I want my morning reaction fish..........

    • Water Temp: 76

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Cloudy, temps in the mid 70s. Good day, best 5 went 9lbs, largest spot was 2lbs 8 oz. Early on many small, size picked up around 11AM. All caught on shakyhead. Could not buy a bite with Sencos!

    • Water Temp: 74-80

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: REALLY foggy. I had a partner for the day who had never fished Casitas and is getting through the process to get his Ranger on the lake over the next weeks. He stuck the first fish on a crank ...think 15 foot range and shad color. Me, I caught a plopper fish off a point( 130, bone) and then we went 8 hours without a bite. It bothered my backseat that he could see fish on the meter but not connect ( and we tried it all). The sky was powder blue and then the wind started to howl. We fished until three and an hour before we left I finally caught a frog fish. I have been searching likely stuff with this bait for 5-6 weeks now. I hooked and lost two more to end our day.

Tips: Everything this year seems off to me and my records say the same. The fish are just going " SummerTime " mode but they seem to like a less aggressive approach so be patient it's coming.

    • Water Temp: 70

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Went out for a few nights this past week. Fishing was pretty slow & the types of rigs they would hit were varied with no patterning. There were no big fish with the largest being 4 lb 9 oz on a Texas rig. Also Caught fish on blades, Senkos, cranks, jigs & underspins. They were also pretty deep in 20+ ft & we were fishing slowly. I think fishing will improve in a few weeks, they seem to be getting a little aggressive, but with the erratic weather & low water, l think the lake is going to turn on a little later than usual. Wish I had more to report!

Tips: The fish we caught were healthy but skinny. I don’t think they’ve gone into full post spawn yet. I spoke with a few people & they seem to think they’re still some fish spawning. The one we got were aggressive so I hope the best is still to come. I will be out again in a few weeks & hope l have more to report.

Ok I’ll bite. Cachuma - blades and chatterbaits are working if know where to go. Think Shad. Be ready to battle w “a local yocal” in a metal tracker that thinks he owns a prime 300yds of shoreline. Everyone else has been working with each other just fine. And there’s always a lot of options for spots at Cachuma if you look around. The bites been good, but it’s small fish. If you know how to throw a blade though you can prob catch 15-20 keepers in a day

I try to fish Shasta 2 days a week. Being an old guy I really don't like fishing in the rain and on hot summer days I get off the water by 11:00AM If anyone reads my reports I will try to post weekly.

Shasta has produced a lot of spots most everywhere with finesse baits in 1 to 10 feet. Early morning top water has produced some to 3 lbs.

    • Water Temp: 73 to start

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Water clarity varies by location. If I wasn't catching fish on my a-rig I would REALLY be struggling right now. My 3 wire with a blade on each arm and small keitechs have caught the lions share of my bags. The topwater bite hasn't been worth the effort for awhile and while I am told there is a crank bite I've yet to put one fish in the boat in the same location that I have scored 3 dbl. fish hook ups on the a-rig. I just haven't made that connection yet. The uglier water color is where this a-rig shines and the afternoon winds make a better bite than the morning. I am also catching fish on senko's,Fat Ika's, dropshot, swimbaits. These baits catch me a few fish but offshore and steeper sloped areas are helpful. The few fish I have caught on topwater have all eaten walking baits. No frog fish for me and only 2 buzzbait fish so far. The topwater bite puzzles me as it's just flat tough no matter the day of the week, lunar phase, water temp.,or weather...The grass is growing in areas you can't predict and can only help the fishing as it gets more developed.

    • Water Temp: 59-62

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Launched the kayak at Russo's at 8am. Intermittent rain at the start with a little breeze (picked up later). Stayed in Frank's Tract all day. Started off amazing with a 23.5" fish at 8:30 on a drop shot (6" Roboworm). Best guess around 8lbs. Slow pick rest of the day on 1-2lb fish. All on a drop shot or Senko. One chatter bait fish. Lots of very small (1/4-1/2") bait. Not sure what they were. Did not see anything chasing. Tried frog and punching for zero love. Ended the day with around 30 fish with all but one in the 1-2lb class.

Tips: Lots of smaller males up shallow in the tules. Soft plastics (Senko or worm) should get you plenty of fish. Reaction bite was not happening for me. Should get better when the weather stabilizes.
