    Water Temp: 74-75

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Tough morning. We were the first boat on the lake (the ranger didn't open the gate until 8:15!). Started with topwater just around the corner from the ramp. We had a couple of good blowups on buzzbaits but no takers. Lots of fish jumping. Switched to dropshot and caught a couple of dinks at 18-20 ft. Off the water at 11:00.
    City: San Jose

Tips: No tips. There isn't much visible cover at this lake so we used the electronics to find offshore structure. We could see them holding at about 20 ft...getting them to bite was another story.

Report: This lake has been tough on me last two weeks... Last week July 3 about 5pm I took my daughter fishing using mostly inflated nightcrawlers, we also tried some spinnerbaits, and spider grubs. We fished by the dam near the road. High skies, relatively warm day no action at all. I hate taking the kids out without any action but... A lot of hey! look at that bird, or did you see the lizard scoot by? Oh well, it's cool to hang with the young ones..

July 11 fished by myself from 4:30-8:30... nothing but a suntan.. fished the launch cove with lipless crank, spinnerbait, brush hog, tube, yada, yada, yada.. no action, it was really windy.

Tips: FISH SHAD COLORED CRANK BAITS EARLY THEN SLOW DOWN AND FISH BRUSH HOGS LATER IN THE DAY WHEN IT WARMS UP. GOOD FISHING.

Came back later and sent on the bank near the big turn out before the parking lot. Used livers with sliding weight on one pole and anchove with slider for kitties. Nothing.

    Report: Fished from 5:30pm-7:30pm.
Worked a spinnerbait decked out as a bluegill, (Chart\orange\white) silver and gold blades, in the boat ramp cove, no takers or followers. In fact, saw no fish at all.

Changed up with a shad looking jerkbait (cause I needed the practice) walked the the island shoreline throwing it under trees, twitching, pausing it, fluttering it over the ledges I could see. Nothing...

While walking the north side of the island (be careful the access isn't all that good and the banks are steep) I found a tree shading a large area with overhanging branches.. I KNEW there had to be a bass there. Just for grins I flung out the jerkbait and just twitched it around for a little bit, sure enough I saw a fish rising to check it out.. a bluegill! It looked at the bait and actually pecked at the silver barbs on the bait. Figured it wasn't food and swam away...hmmm.

Got out the spinning rod and rigged a FLW tube in Chart\pumpkinseed on a 1/8 oz round jig head and sent it in and hopped it in between the visible tree roots that extended into the water. While the hook itself was rigged weedless, I felt the jighead lodge on a rock. I hate that!

So I start trying to dislodge it, snapping the line, trying to pull it free etc.. Just when I was about to give up and cut it free I decided to give one more pull.

Finally it pulled loose, a split second later I felt a fish grab it started pulling away strongly. I worked it to the surface and saw it was a average sized fish for Uvas (1.5lber, maybe a little less) but this thing was all over the place . On a mad dash left it actually managed to fling the tube off the line, it was kind of funny. Fish going one way, tube flying the other. Anyway, lifted the fish to me, it was a spot! Then set it back in the water.

Tried a few more casts, trying to make a lot of commotion on the bottom. I think the tube breaking free from the snag, maybe with the skirt flaring, is what triggered that little bass to strike. I couldn't seem to duplicate it as there weren't anymore hits. About 15min later I heard the Ranger honking his horn so I high tailed it out of there. My car was the last one in the parking lot.

Report: Memorial Day - should have known better...
The most boat traffic I've ever seen on this lake.
The picnic area was filled with folks having a great time, obviously the boat ramp\cove area was very noisy.

Lots of anglers on the shore - lots in boats. Not a lot of fish caught. I think they had everything including the kitchen sink dropped on their heads.

Go to the lake about 10:30 (too late)
High skies, warm weather, tried a small 4-8 diving swim bait, hula grubs, carolina rigged a mister twister 4" fry (I love the action of this bait) it just wiggles and flitters about, and the ribs produce little air bubbles if you twitch it. However no takers or maybe I didn't feel the pickup.

Worked the island, trees, laydowns, rockwalls, even drifted across to the dam. Nothing, Nothing, Nothing.

I love this lake but it has been tough on me the last couple of weeks. Should have tried a drop shot or maybe a shakey head.. (shakey, shakey)
