Anglers working waters feeding into Lake Shasta

Anglers working waters feeding into Lake Shasta

Please be on the lookout for signs of spawning kokanee in the waters above Lake Shasta. The DFW wants to be made aware of a naturalized spawn at the lake - this isnt a bad thing - this helps with the management of kokanee in Lake Shasta.

Background: The kokanee plants into Lake Shasta started in 2019 - after a 50+ year lapse. Given the size of the lake, it takes the lions share of the annual kokanee fry allotment that DFW produces.

As this is the newest water we have for kokanee plants, we want to stay ahead of the power curve on fishery management to produce the best kokanee angling opportunity possible.

Lake Shasta feeder rivers/streams are ideal grounds for kokanee to go native and establish a robust fishery and if they do, we would like to know about it.
Thanks and appreciate your help.
